A community has gone on lock-down
as lions and tigers escaped from a
zoo after floods washed away its
fencing.
Two lions, two tigers and a jaguar
have escaped from a zoo in Germany,
Metro UK reports.
People in Luenebach, in the west of
the country, have been warned to
stay inside by police.
A bear also broke out of its
enclosure at the Eifel Zoo, near the
borders with German media, and
Belgium, but it has been shot dead.
According to German media, the
animals were able to escape after
flooding caused by an overnight
storm.
It is reported that a river
overflowed and wore down fences,
allowing the dangerous animals a
way out.
Police in nearby Trier said that all of
the escaped animals were believed to
still be on the grounds of the zoo.
Vets are said to be on sight as well
as police and firefighters.
The zoo is home to about 400
